Sgt. Aaron was critically injured when he stepped on an IED while on patrol in Afghanistan. He has undergone multiple surgeries and both legs had to be amputated. Please pray for Sgt. Aaron and his family. We understand that Aaron remains positive and upbeat in the midst of it all. He has amazing strength and courage. They are all coping the best they can. Your prayers will help the most! As soon as we have an address, we can forward letters to him.
"Slow and Steady" are the words of Sgt. Aaron's wife today. She acknowledges these unfortunate circumstances has taught them to appreciate what they DO have. Aaron goes through wound debridement surgeries every other day, but progress is good. The therapist are hopeful he'll have his wheelchair by the end of this week. Of course, he'll start experiencing the chair a few minutes at a time and increasing those time spans as time goes on. They are very appreciative of the encouragement and support and the privacy everyone has given Sgt. Aaron so he can concentrate on his recovery and having precious time with is wife and baby girl. Sending healing prayers your way Sgt. Aaron. We know with the love of your little family you will find the strength you need to improve a little each day.
Some news from Aaron's wife, Jessica, this week. "Progress is not as rapid as it was in the beginning but Aaron's wounds are still healing really well. The doctors are hopeful that starting this week we will be able to eliminate one surgery a week, two surgeries a week instead of three! This weekend we spent some great quality time with each other and with our daughter. Aaron set up a romantic dinner on Friday for us to celebrate my birthday (with not one, but TWO bouquets of flowers)! We got some great pictures of Riley and Aaron together and I can't wait to frame them. It's really the little things these days and I'm grateful for this opportunity to step back and really be aware of and thankful for the life that we have together. Again, but never said enough, thank you for all of your support. We are just in awe of all you wonderful people who want to hold events and participate in events for Aaron. I wish we could explain how grateful we are for such an amazing community of people!!!Love to you all,Jessica" I'm sure everyone at OPPAL will join me in wishing Jessica a very happy belated birthday - this one was obviously very special since Aaron was able to be here and plan something very memorable for her.
Sgt. Aaron's wife put together this slideshow to show the amazing progress he has made since the date of his injuries. She granted permission for us to share it with each of you!
