Lance Corporal Sean was injured in Afghanistan in early February, 2012. His right arm and both hands were described as maimed. He lost both legs, had a broken jaw and some shrapnel in his eye. In three months he has come a long way but still has a long way to go.
He was granted leave for Memorial Day and went home for a visit. His friends and family were excited to see him. He's already back at the hospital so send him a card to keep his spirits up while he works on his recovery away from home. Update
: 6/10/2012 Sean had ear surgery and he's doing ok after it. His family is very appreciative of your prayers. Update
: 7/13/2012 Sean was able to come home again for more convalescent leave while healing from the most recent surgery. He had the packing removed during this time and the doctor thinks his ear is coming along nicely. We love good news don't you?
UPDATE: 11-10-13. Often times in my life, I have heard the phrase "no news is good news" and I can certainly tell you that in this case.....the length of time between our last update of June 2012 and today a LOT of good news has taken place for LCpl. Sean! Now medically retired, drive and determination has gotten Sean through a great deal this past year. Early this spring he took his first steps with prosthetic legs! He has kept his passion for speed & stock cars which has motivated him to return "under the hood" of his car to make it race-ready. I'm sure it was extremely exciting for him when he was able to attend a NASCAR race this fall complete with a Hot Pass (access to the pit). But I'm confident what has topped it all thus far was for this avid "Bulldawg" fan to be invited to attend the University of Georgia's Homecoming game last Saturday as an honored guest! LCpl. Sean was recognized on centerfield during half time in front of thousands of fans.
I have a feeling you'll enjoy this video about Sean by Aaron David Hostutler:
We recently found out that a Poker Run will be held in Sean's honor this coming spring. We certainly wish the organizers of this even much success in reaching their participation and dollar goals. I suspect as much as Sean's community has rallied around him, this event will be fantastic!
